What is HWB?
Hwb is the digital platform for learning and teaching in Wales. Hwb provides its users with access to a range of centrally-funded, bilingual, digital tools and resources. It is the Welsh Government’s strategic digital channel to support the delivery of the curriculum in Wales. Hwb provides access to:
- a range of centrally funded tools to help education practitioners create and share their own resources and assignments
- a professional networking environment
- Google for Education
- Microsoft Office 365
Hwb logins are available to all teachers and learners in maintained schools in Wales. All maintained schools have access to login details.

Every learner in Wales has been provided with a HWB username and password which is unique to them. The username will take the form of their surname followed by their initial and possibly a number followed by @hwbcymru.net (e.g. bloggsj@hwbcymru.net). If you need a further copy of your child’s HWB username and password, please contact your child’s teacher
What Can My Child Use HWB To Do?
Foundation Phase pupils will be encouraged to use JIT5 (part of J2E) where they can use:
“Write” and “Paint” to type and draw pictures
“Turtle” provides children with an introduction to basic programming
“Chart” and “Pictogram” provides tools to create different graphs to support your child’s numeracy skills.
Just2easy (J2e) is an award winning software toolset designed for education.
In J2e you will find creativity tools, apps and games for Maths, English, Computing and cross curricular creative activities in a completely personalised learning experience.
All J2e documents have their own unique web address which means, as well as accessing them from any web browser, you can easily share them with teachers, learners, family and friends.
Hwb users have two options for accessing Just2easy:
Option 1:
- Navigate to https://hwb.gov.wales and log in with your Hwb username and password.
- Click on Just2easy.
- Select the J2e application you wish to use.
Option 2:
- Navigate to j2e.com.
- Click on the Hwb icon.
- Log in with your Hwb username and password.
- Select the J2e application you wish to use.
Can Parents Have Access To HWB?
HWB does not offer individual parental logins. However, a number of areas are available without logging in, including the Online safety zone.
